HELLO

Bob and David Rolf are from Strongsville, OH. They have been living and working in the Northeast, Ohio area for more than 30 years.

 

Bob began learning the garage door trade in the 1970s. He worked for several major garage door companies in the Cleveland area, obtaining multiple certifications along the way. While he enjoyed being a technician full-time, he knew he wanted more. He had a knack for the sales component of the company as well, so he eventually left to begin a new adventure of opening his own garage door business. The business originally started as Great Lakes Door in the 90s. Business was going well, but Bob eventually noticed that there was a market for rolling shutters in the area as well. He wanted to provide protection and privacy for small businesses and homeowners, so he expanded his business to include shutters for residential and commercial locations. The company then evolved to American Shutter Systems.

 

Now going on more and more sales calls through the day, Bob decided it might be fun to take his son David (about 10 years old at the time) on service calls with him. David showed an interest in the process, and would ask his dad lots of questions about what he was doing. Bob would let him try using basic tools like a screwdriver. It was clear that David had a knack for tools and fixing things! David continued to go on sales calls with his father, picking up the trade from watching his father as they went.

 

David began doing garage doors full time in 2019 with a major garage door company in Cleveland, Ohio. He obtained his master technician certification in 2021. In Fall of 2022 he decided to pursue going back to work with his dad and will continue the family business when his dad eventually retires. When David rejoined his dad's side in 2022, they re-branded the company as simply "American Shutter, LLC."
